Meet the Trustees

Cynthia Phillips

Chairperson – 2007 – to date

I am the longest serving trustee for bact. My main field of expertise is personnel. In my working life I worked as a social worker in Adult Social Care, which I absolutely loved. I enjoy volunteering for bact as they are a not for profit company who really make a difference to people and help prevent social isolation for so many in all age groups. The staff and trustees are a friendly bunch who all work as a good team.

Phillip Mitchell

Vice Chairperson – 2008 – to date

I have spent most of my life working in the aviation industry as an engineer. I feel that this experience has given me the benefit for an eye for detail, which really helps when we have issues with our vehicles. My passion is cars and I spent many years with a Mini club. I enjoy my role as a trainer for bact meeting all the wonderful volunteers who come into our organisation. I also drive the minibuses, wav’s and my car, meeting our wonderful passengers from all walks of life with always a tale to tell.

Chris Tukesko

Trustee – 2015 – to date

Most of my professional life was spent working with transport and accessibility issues and, as a result, I was aware of the incredibly important role which community transport plays. Amongst other benefits it provides better access to education and employment opportunities as well as healthcare and recreation. Community transport provides a personal, often door to door, service for our customers allowing them to meet people and reach destinations which might well otherwise be inaccessible to them. Equally important, it provides a whole range of community involvement opportunities for a huge number of volunteers in roles such as car and minibus drivers, passenger care assistants and trustees. Trustees play a vital role, volunteering their time and working together to make important decisions about our work. Whatever your own area of expertise I would urge you to join us and help to connect communities throughout Waveney and south Norfolk.

Paul Rand

Trustee – 2012 – to date

My original occupation was as a chemist in the concrete industry followed by 30 years teaching chemistry in Schools. I became a driver for Bact when I retired in 2008. As a driver, I enjoy meeting and chatting to passengers. As a trustee, I hope that my experience is helpful in assisting this organisation to help reduce social isolation and alleviate the stress experienced by some people with obtaining transport.

Sophie Garrett

Trustee – 2013 – to date

I am a consultant working on government policy and I have a wide-ranging background in data science, marketing, IT and project management. I’ve always been interested in public and community transport and I became involved in bact because I was impressed by the professionalism and commitment of the trustees and staff. I am still delighted to be working with a terrific team and to help so many vulnerable people to have a better life.

Mark Keenan

Trustee – 2018 – to date

Having graduated with a degree in Computer science, I began my working life as a computer programmer, and then moved into Data analysis and Direct Marketing. I am currently Operations Director for a Homemover Data Agency, based in Milton Keynes. I spend my working week between Milton Keynes, and my home near Beccles. I became a trustee for Bact having spent some time helping out with technical queries, as my wife was already working in the office there. Having just finished a stint as a school governor at my children’s school I was after a new challenge, and thought it best to make my role with Bact more official! As a trustee I have been involved with updating the IT and technical equipment in the office, I am always on hand for any questions, or help that is needed when things aren’t working quite as they should be! I love being part of a great team that helps run such a worthwhile service for the local community, and enjoy meeting our volunteers and passengers at the yearly social events Bact runs.
